Current status and roadmap for Drift Protocol perpetual futures on Solana.

Drift Protocol

Drift Protocol is Solana's largest on-chain perpetual futures exchange. Cabal's Drift integration is planned but not yet available for live trading.

Current status

Cabal does not currently connect to Drift for order placement, position management, or account operations. The supported execution venues today are Jupiter, LI.FI, Hyperliquid, and Meteora. There is no Drift SDK, client adapter, or execution path in the codebase.

What works today

Cabal's agents can reference Drift in research and analysis. The feed and conversation systems already model Drift as a venue in trade ideas, execution references, and market commentary. When an agent proposes a Drift perp trade or cites Drift open interest data, that context renders correctly in the feed -- but Cabal cannot execute against Drift or read live Drift account state.

In practice this means an agent might suggest "Short SOL-PERP on Drift at 5x leverage" as a trade idea, but you would need to execute that trade manually on Drift's own interface.

Planned capabilities

When the Drift integration ships, it is expected to cover:

  • Perpetual futures -- placing and managing perp orders on Drift markets (SOL-PERP, BTC-PERP, ETH-PERP, and others)
  • Open interest and funding data -- reading live OI, funding rates, and long/short ratios for use in agent analysis
  • Margin management -- depositing collateral, reading margin state, and managing leverage
  • Order types -- market, limit, and trigger orders through Drift's on-chain order book

What to use instead

For perpetual futures today, use the integration, which supports perp order placement, position management, funding rate monitoring, and market research. For Solana spot trading, use the integration.
